Marla J. Ferguson, COL, MS

Col Carlene A.S Blanding COL Ferguson graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in Biology (1993) and was commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer.
In 2004, she earned a master’s degree in Management with an emphasis in procurement and supply chain management from the University of Maryland University College. Her military education includes the Army Medical Department Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Medical Logistics Officer’s Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Defense Systems Management College.
She is currently enrolled in the Army War College Distance Learning program. She is a member of the U.S. Army Acquisition Corps and is Acquisition Level III certified in Contracting and Program Management.

COL Ferguson began her military career in the Army Reserve in 1988 as an 88M, Motor Vehicle Operator, with the 983rd Combat Heavy Engineer Battalion. In 1994, COL Ferguson started her active duty career at Fort Benning, GA, and served as a Health Services Materiel Officer, 2d Mobile Army Surgical Hospital; Ground Ambulance Platoon Leader, 690th Medical Company; Deputy Chief, Property Management Branch, Martin Army Community Hospital; and Company Commander/Executive Officer, U.S. Army Dental Activity. Then, she served as the Recruiting Team Commander, Great Lakes Health Care Recruiting Team, Ann Arbor, MI. From 2001-2005, Marla completed the U.S. Army Medical Department’s Acquisition Procurement Internship Program and served as a contracting officer and branch chief at the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Fort Detrick, MD. Returning to a medical logistics assignment, she served as Accountable Officer and Chief, Distribution and Transportation Division, at the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center Europe, Pirmasens, Germany. COL Ferguson then relocated to Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA, where she served as the Senior Medical Logistics Planner, I Corps. In this assignment, she deployed to Iraq and served as the Senior Medical Logistics Officer for the Multi-National Forces/Corps-Iraq and U.S. Forces Iraq. She has also served as the Chief, Western Regional Contracting Office, U.S. Army Medical Command Health Care Acquisition Activity and Chief, Medical Materiel Management, 6th Medical Logistics Management Center, U.S. Army Forces Command. From July 2013 – July 2016 COL Ferguson served in an BN level acquisition command select position as the Joint Product Manager for the Chemical Defense Pharmaceuticals Joint Product Management Office within the Medical Countermeasure Systems Joint Project Management Office and the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense. COL Ferguson’s previous assignment was the Chief, Medical Logistics Division for the Defense Health Agency.

COL Ferguson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (7), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2), the Iraq Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge, and Recruiting Badge Silver.
