Command Sergeant Major Roderick D. Taylor

CSM Roderick D. Taylor Command Sergeant Major Roderick D. Taylor enlisted in the United States Army in 1994. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard wood, Missouri and received Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

CSM Taylor’s military assignments include the following: Senior Line Medic and Evacuation NCO, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, LA; Emergency Medical NCO, United States Army Medical Department Center (MEDDAC), Fort Polk, LA; Evacuation NCO, 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea; NCOIC, Emergency room USA MEDDAC, Fort Polk, LA; Joint Readiness Training Center Surgeon Medical Operations NCO, USA MEDDAC, Fort Polk, LA; Section Sergeant, 565th (GA) Company, Fort Polk, LA; NCOIC Telemedicine Directorate, Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, DC; Retention NCO, Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, DC; Senior Drill Sergeant, Alpha Company 232nd Medical Battalion, Fort Sam Houston, TX; Platoon Sergeant, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI; First Sergeant, Charlie Company 325th Brigade Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI; and NCOIC of the Department of Surgery, William Beaumont Army Medical Center and First Sergeant, Bravo Company, William Beaumont Army Medical Center and First Sergeant, Charlie Company William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

CSM Taylor has completed all levels of NCOES, and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 66). He also attended the AMEDD Executive Skills course, AMEDD Pre command course, Battalion Pre-Command course; Emergency Medical Technician course, Battle Staff Course, Drill Sergeant course (Commandants list), Master Resiliency Training Course, Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handlers course, Medical Management CBRNE Casualty Course, Combatives Level I & II certified, Commanders Safety course, Support Operations (Phase 1), Brigade Combat Medical Trauma Team Training (BCT3), Environmental Compliance Officer course, TMDE support coordinator course, and Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military education course.

CSM Taylor has deployed to Bosnia for peacekeeping operations, and participated in combat deployments to include two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terror.

CSM Taylor’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd award), Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal (1 BSS), Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (1 BSS), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 BSS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 6), the NATO Medal (1 BSS), Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Combat Action Badge, Expert Field Medical and Driver Badge wheeled. CSM Taylor is a recipient of Army Medical Department- Order of Military Medical Merit. CSM Taylor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science Degree in Management.
